First Lombardian Ever Elected to General Assembly Begins Work

SPRINGFIELD – Former Lombard village trustee Peter Breen was sworn in as the new State Representative for Illinois’ 48th District on Wednesday, bringing with him years of community involvement and broad experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. All 118 members of the House of Representatives took the oath of office for the inaugural of the 99th General Assembly at the University of Illinois-Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium in a noon-time ceremony.

“For too long, the government of Illinois has been out of touch with the people of Illinois,” said Rep. Breen, “I’m proud to serve the people of east and central DuPage County as their advocate, for a strong economy and job growth, common-sense budget and spending reforms, and cleaning up state government. Folks are being forced to move out of Illinois to find work and opportunity. I look forward to working with Governor Rauner and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to chart a positive new course for Illinois to make our state the best place in the country to live, work, and raise a family.”
