State Representative Peter Breen to Host Free Women’s Self-Defense and Self-Awareness Class

State Representative Peter Breen (R-Lombard) is partnering with One Light Self-Defense to bring a self-defense and self-awareness class to women in the 48th District on January 11.

The free class will be held at Park View Elementary School, 250 S. Park Boulevard, in Glen Ellyn from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Adult women are invited to bring their teenage daughters with them. Due to the interactive nature of the class, participants should wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bottles of water will be provided.

“Those who attend this class will learn valuable techniques about where to hit an attacker, how to release a hold, and methods to improve awareness and avoid potential attacks,” said Breen. “My hope is that everyone will leave the class with a better understanding of how to protect themselves during potentially dangerous situations.”

While the class is free, donations will be taken at the door to benefit Family Shelter Service of Wheaton, a local organization supporting women and children fleeing domestic violence situations.

Those who wish to attend the class are asked to RSVP no later than Friday, January 5 by calling the Breen office at (630) 403-8135 or by using the contact form found at
